Different Categories of Yoga
There are various categories of yoga asanas depending on its usage.
Kundilini yoga – kundlini is a term for a spiritual life force located at the base of the spine. Performing this yoga asana, kundlini automatically purifies the whole body & dispels physical & mental sresses. It is a form of meditative yoga.
Bikram yoga – it is beneficial for weight loss, muscular strength, cardiovascular flexibility & muscular endurance. It is practiced in a heated room. Muscles strats loosing & sweating cleanse the body & one gets relaxed from chronic pain. It should e performed in guideline of a yoga instructor.
Hatha yoga – it is the foundation of all other yoga asanas. Performing this one gets into touch with own body, stretches muscles & decreases stress.
Mantra yoga – it is practiced through chanting of mantras. Vibrations produced while chanting mantras are helpful in cring certain diseases.
Ashtanga yoga – it is also known as power yoga. It is one of the oldest categories of yoga. It has eight yoga asanas.
Pranayama, surya – namaskar, yoga therapy, nerve cleansing are the part of it.
Bhakti yoga – this kind of yoga is for those who are aesthetic & have beliefs in the existence of God or any supreme power. It cures one’s mental & emotional problems. Almost in all the yoga asanas one has to keep faith in any supreme power which helps in meditation & concentration.
